“Volunteers do not always have the time, but they have the heart,” said CGAD NCR-CL District Director Commodore Joseph N Dy PCGA.
Though it may be apparent that most, if not all PCGA members are engaged with their respective day jobs, a record of 250+ Auxiliarists from 15 Squadrons of the Coast Guard Auxiliary District National Capital Region-Central Luzon (CGAD NCR-CL) have indeed shared their time and heart in support to the cause of the PCG.
According to PCGA District Commander Commodore Luis M Tuason Jr PCG, the convention will provide the group with a “stronger grip and understanding of what the PCGA is all about and how we can support the PCG.”
For his part, Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Ramon C Liwag PCG, stressed the importance of the PCGA in support of their causes.
“The PCGA has been increasing in number and operation especially in maritime search and rescue. We cannot do it alone and I always make sure that I mention PCGA because we only have 6,000 coast guard personnel to guard our 7,107 islands. What can we do without you?” says the Admiral who emphasized that with the current 7,000 strong members, PCGA now has a better chance of guarding the country’s coastlines.
“I am very impressed that this District Convention gathered so many PCGA members and I expect this usual participation in the near future,” he furthered.
Meanwhile, PCGA National Director Vice Admiral Higinio Mendoza Jr PCGA, ardently expressed his pride and said “we are the only largest organization in the South East Asia (not to mention that we are) the most powerful and most rich (in manpower) district in the Philippines.”
During the DisCon, the PCGA National Directorate presented PCG’s four areas of concern; MAREP, MARSAF, MARSAR and COMRELCOM.
